An acoustical foam product's effectiveness can be learned by viewing its NRC rating. The standard and commonly used method to calculate these ratings is the ASTM C423 test. This method covers frequencies between 125HZ and 4000HZ. But, the overall NRC rating is the calculated average of frequencies 250Hz to 2000Hz. This is done to suppress the chance of testing errors.
